About the NCACCThe National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks was organized in 1973, with current members throughout state and federal appellate courts. The Conference has three main objectives: to improve the skill and knowledge required of those performing the duties of appellate court clerks by conferences, seminars or other educational programs; to promote and improve the contribution of the offices of appellate court clerks within the area of effective court administration; to maintain facilities for the collection and dissemination of information and ideas with regard to the operation and improvement of the offices of appellate court clerks.
The Conference seeks to accomplish these objectives through numerous activities and initiatives. One of the most important events is the annual educational conference held in conjunction with the formal business meeting of the Conference. The Docket, an educational newsletter for members, is published quarterly. The activities of the various committees are ongoing throught the year. Executive Committee meetings are held quarterly in locations around the country.
The Thirty-Ninth Annual Conference will be held July 29-August 3, 2012 in Charleston, South Carolina. Due to an unanticipated local event, the 2012 conference dates will be Sunday, July 29 through Friday, August 3. The change was recommended by the host and approved by the executive committee. The Mills House Hotel made concessions in light of the circumstances. Please mark your calendars. The conference was previously scheduled to be held August 5-10.
NCACC WHITE PAPER: E-Filing in State Courts: An Appraisal. "E-filing has become well-established in federal courts, but state courts, particularly appellate courts, have lagged far behind in developing and implementing e-filing. While the technology required for e-filing is relatively simple and straightforward, the reasons for the states' slow progress toward e-filing are complex and multi-faceted." (Issued February 5, 2010).
REVISED ITEM: The Code of Professional Conduct adopted by the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks is now available online. The Code was adopted on August 11, 1983, at the annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, and amended on August 6, 1992, at the twentieth annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on August 5, 1993, at the twenty-first annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, and on August 6, 2009 at the thirty-sixth annual meeting in Sacramento, California.
